Democrats For Life Expresses Support for Rep. Cuellar’s Courage to Stand Up for Women

Washington, DC. Democrats For Life of America, a pro-life for the whole life advocacy group, expresses gratitude to Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) for voting against a bill advertised as the Women’s Health Protection Act. “We appreciate that Congressman Cuellar stood up to protect women with this vote,” said Kristen Day, Executive Director of Democrats For Life of America. “The legislation was written by the abortion lobby to line their pockets financially by eliminating abortion health and safety regulations and eliminating laws aimed to provide women with information about abortion.” The legislation would eliminate all state and federal health and safety regulations governing...

Democrats For Life Opposes the Reprehensible and Grossly Misnamed Women’s Health Protection Act

Statement by Kristen Day, Executive Director, Democrats For Life of America The House is gearing up to consider H.R.3755, the “Women's Health Protection Act.” Democrats For Life of America strongly urges a no vote on this anti-women, anti-safety legislation. This proposed legislation would enshrine violence against the preborn in American law and put women’s lives and health at risk. It codifies Roe in a reckless and dangerous way in direct contradiction to the name of the bill itself. It would eliminate virtually all state-level abortion-related health and safety regulations including protection to prevent ending the lives of viable preborn infants and laws designed to protect pregnant...

Statement on Supreme Court Allowing Texas Law to Go into Effect

By Sophie Trist, DFLA Messaging Director I am encouraged that the Supreme Court has allowed the Texas law to go into effect. It shows that the high court is finally reckoning with its disastrous decision in Roe v. Wade, which has cost over sixty million lives. But by emphasizing surveillance and punishment over restoration and healing, the Texas law is not giving pregant people the compassionate care and community support that will make the violence of abortion unthinkable. Though I am tentatively optimistic that this law will serve as the first step toward a more pro-life future, Texas and the rest of the world still have much work to do to achieve restorative, human-centered justice sy...
