"I believe Democrats better support life after birth by helping the poor & middle class & the sick, denouncing the death penalty in cases where the criminal can be safely kept out of society through incarceration without parole, and promoting peace. Pro-life Democrats also support the right of the unborn to life and for health care & financial help for those mothers who might feel forced to abort because they don't feel they can afford to carry a baby to viability &/or raise a baby.
As a Pro-life Catholic Democrat, I also support natural lifelong families which statistics show to be the best environment for growing healthy children. I denounce the philosophy of Planned Parenthood which promotes extramarital sex & birth control methods that are harmful to women & marriages & families. Our country is in a dying population crisis & we need to promote strong, fruitful, exclusive marriages to avoid demographic winter. May God guide our country's leaders and have mercy on us for US promotion of abortion in other countries."

"The Democratic Party has long stood up for the rights of the poor, disenfranchised, and minority groups here in America. Well, there's no group more helpless and voiceless than the unborn, so it makes perfect logical sense to me to extend the civil rights plank of the party to cover the unborn. Either life matters or it doesn't; that's the question we as Democrats need to ask ourselves.
I hope to promote progressive reform in America that can work harmoniously alongside the right to life and religious freedom."

"I am a Catholic priest and member of the Missionary Society of Saint Paul the Apostle (Paulist Fathers), America's first Catholic religious order of men. Our founder, Isaac Thomas Hecker, was a Jacksonian Democrat and early New York social reformer. I believe Democrats for Life embraces the rich social teachings of my Church, in the spirit of the late R. Sargent Shriver and his dear wife, Eunice Kennedy Shriver. I myself am an evangelist based in Memphis, Tennessee, and active in movements to end abortion, the death penalty, poverty, racism, international, local, and domestic violence, and to promote universal health care and immigration rights. I am proud of the involvement of Democrats for Life in all of these areas."

"I'm a prolife Democrat because the cause of protecting the unborn is connected with the cause of advancing human dignity and seeking the common good. Republicans make an idol out of market forces that, at best, can bring about efficiency, but not human solidarity and community. Sometimes I cannot vote for either a democrat or a republican on the national level; but I can always find a local Democrat who is consistently pro-life; but never a Republican. Thank you for your good work."

"I am proud to be a Pro-Life Democrat because it gives me the opportunity to try to change the platform of the Democratic party to one which protects the right to life of humans at any age. I believe in most of the "people centered" policies of the Democratic party, exceptions are their Pro-Abortion agenda as well as efforts to change the definition of marriage away from the traditional one man - one woman. I believe that we can be much more productive in effecting Democratic Pro-Life change from within the party rather than from without. Every good salesman knows you have to get your foot-in-the-door in order to make the sale. We need to change the balance toward Pro-Life policies by electing Pro-Life Democrats. Then, may God bless America!"

"The Democratic Party has a more consistent life ethic approach to legislating. However, their position on abortion is wrong. Republicans, while pro-life on abortion, will at the first opportunity cut funds to help pregnant women and those with debilitating health problems. Only pro-life Democrats are consistently pro-life and I am proud to be one."

"I am grateful to be a pro-life Democrat. For years I have believed in
causes supported by the Democratic Party, such as aid for the poor, support for working people, gun control, universal health care, promoting world understanding and peace, but I was appalled and embarrassed by the pro-choice party stance approving killing innocent babies, which apparently was non-negotiable. My pro-life friends and I even spoke at Democratic caucuses asking that they not ignore our fundamental concern, but no one was listening. Elections were torture for me, and often I could not in conscience vote for the Democratic candidate because of his or her pro-choice position. I am thrilled to belong to DFLA and thrilled to see pro-life Democrats coming forward."
Paula, Longmont, CO
"I'm proud to be a pro-life Democrat because its morally and politically right. I grew up in the Clinton era and I always thought that a third way would be better. In this sense, we aren't so far right that we cant see the good from the left, but we stand for life. As a Catholic, I've always believed in Cardinal Bernadin's consistent life ethic from the womb to the tomb. Pro-life Democrats keep fighting for fetuses, infants and adults, it's all encompassing."
